this guy has a brother who is disfellowshipped.
he has never been baptized, yet has an ongoing interest and believes the jws are a special people.

As a side issue - he also added, that:
"... even though the response does not appear to be great in terms of time spent vs converts to the faith - the work is still relevant, due to a warning message being given to all nations."
I must scan in and print out the section in Christian Freedom regarding the ministry as well for him to read.
I think after all of this, I will let the issue go and move on to something else.

I think the trouble I have using that argument in the UK is that the JWs are really the only ones pestering people at their front doors.
I have met Mormans in the town, but only JWs knock doors around here (or so it seems).
I will add your thoughts to my document though.

just had the co visit and a circuit assembly and the big push is on to do business territory and street witnessing and less door to door.
we've been encouraged to "go where the people are!
" which brings me to a funny coincidence.

His brother was disfellowshipped for an immoral act. Nuff said He (who I have spoken about before) is currently attempting to be reinstated.

The debate occurred after I had pointed out that I had little to no faith in the WTBTS chronology. He told me that was fair enough, but he didn't concern himself with dates, as they meant little to him anyway.
I told him there was no point going out to talk to people and support the religion if the creed was faulty and to claim that "JWs have truth absolute" is just plain silly in light of the errors.
What would you have said?

As a side note: it cannot be proven using scripture that failing to attend the prescribed amount of meetings each week, as a Christian, hampers ones salvation.
Maybe our new friend on the thread could use scripture to help us see where we are going wrong?

a friend of mine who is disfellowshipped wonders whether it is wtbts policy to let him have the magazines still and frankly, i can't remember.
i told him that i believe it is their policy not to let him have the mags, but i'm not actually that sure.

Your friend will probably attend meetings, so he can get them at the KH without much problem. I've known several JW with mental problems. One was disfellowshipped and even took the emblems during the time she was disfellowshipped at the Memorial. Shocked the socks off everyone. Now she is reinstated, mental illness and all. Don't know how she managed to get back in, but she had tried several times without success prior to them finally reinstatng her.
He does go off and on to the meetings. But I know he finds it difficult. He is a person who is looking for warmth and love. I think his ideals are too high in reality and this is holding him back.
Believe me, I have tried to persuade him of many things over the past two years, but gave up two months ago and rarely see him now. For both our sakes, I think we had to stop hurling rocks at each other during discussions.
The whole situiation has being rather stressful and I think he needs to go back to retain any form of sanity.
Ho-hum.
